Karen Dellaripa Shares Her Tech Stack

Jun 15, 2023 | Episodes

Karen Dellaripa from Beyond Your Books joined us for the Firm Spotlight on June 13th, 2023 and we had a blast! Karen has been in the business for over 20 years!

A little bit about Beyond Your Books

Karen and her partner Rich started Beyond Your Books 8 years ago! They now have 12 team members, serve over 100 clients and their niche is Profit First. The goal was to grow the business to the point where it could run itself and they could relax, but Karen decided that semi-retired life wasn’t for her and started a brick-and-mortar gift shop!

Internal tech stack overview

Karen’s internal stack is full of awesome tech! They are using QuickBooks and QB Time to track their employee’s time, to make sure that the flat rate they charge their customers is fair. They use Canopy for task management, Smartvault for document storage, Track1099 for 1099s, and Profit First. Karen called Profit First her “Secret Sauce”. They are a Mastery Level PFP (profit first professional) Firm. Anyone who signs up for their Profit First Service meets with them once a month for training and coaching. This service is designed to help clients grow their businesses.

External tech stack overview

Karen’s external stack is also full of amazing tech! They have been using Bill.com for 20 years! They use Gusto for payroll, Dext to keep their clients “audit-proof”, Fathom for more in-depth reporting, and Keeper for passwords. Karen recommends using Relay Bank with Profit First (tieing together internal and external!). Relay just became a partner with Profit First and built an allocation tool within the bank set up to automatically do allocations for you. You can set the frequency to daily, weekly, etc, and what day of the week to do transfers.  Relay also offers multiple accounts, no bank fees, debit cards (virtual and physical), and now you can also write checks on the accounts.

In this episode, we covered other apps as well and how she utilizes them. Be sure to watch this episode so you can learn how this tech stack works!
