What is ‘Appy Hour Camp?
On Tuesday July 26th, 2022 Liz and Heather were joined by ‘Appy Hour Camp Sponsors and attendees to discuss an important question, what is ‘Appy Hour Camp?
We were joined by some of our technology partners, including Kim Ambaugh from Intuit, Jennie Moore from Ignition, Joe Carufe from Karbon, Rhonda Shurter from ADP, and Ben Stein from Keeper.
When asked what made participation in Appy Hour Camp a no brainer, Joe Carufe said “this is a chance to make connections” and Rhonda Shurter shared “this is a chance to be emerged into the [ideation] experience”.
One attendee dubbed the event as “the assembling of the Avengers of Accounting” and everyone agreed the mission is to #fightdirtydata.
What is the vision for Camp
‘Appy Hour Camp was curated by Heather Satterley and Liz Scott to support the intentional educator and to serve as an incubator for the next round of aspiring educators in the accounting space.
The entire educational, inspirational and entertaining retreat will be a co-mingling of established accounting industry educators, up-and-coming educators, and app developers. All camp attendees will be immersed in the sessions and activities together in a shared space to facilitate community and collective innovation.
Why “CAMP”
Liz shared that some of her best thinking is done outside without a ceiling to stop her and just the stars as her limit! Also, we all think back to how camp life was once for us. It was a place where great connections are formed. Everyone is super excited to get under the stars and experience the Sparkle Element and also to try our Campfire S’mores Cocktail!
There were discussions about what everyone is hoping to discuss at camp such as the latest technology trends, how to be more innovative in their accounting practices, and how to build community within the profession.
